Carles Gil should be bait to sign former Tim Sherwood target Florin Andone
The Romanian international was wanted by Aston Villa in 2015.
The club have good striking options already, with Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan, but are still looking light up top. Andone might be the perfect option, two years after Sherwood and co failed to lure him to Villa Park.
Aston Villa look set to lose Spanish playmaker Carles Gil. The 24-year-old joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan in the summer and has played 19 times for the club this season and is very happy at the Riazor.
Speaking to La Voz de Galicia this week he confirmed his desire to remain at Deportivo after the summer, with Villa again set to be playing Championship football in 2017-18.
If that is the case, Villa should certainly look at sealing a swap deal that sees a former target arrive at the club.
In April 2015 it was reported by the Daily Mail that Aston Villa were keen on the Romanian striker Florin Andone.
Tim Sherwood was the manager at the time and Villa were keen on snapping up the player, who was thriving in Spain with Cordoba.
In the end he remained at Cordoba and went on to score 21 goals in 35 games, earning a move to Deportivo in the summer.
He has been a regular for the club this term, but mustered just eight goals, and Villa would be right to take a chance on the player if they can get him thrown into any Carles Gil transfer move.
